Mrs. Homer Bloomfield, 89 of Senoia, GA (formerly of Lanett, AL) passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021.
Public Viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. EST at Silmon-Seroyer Funeral Home Chapel in LaFayette, AL.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021, 12:00 p.m. EST at St. John Baptist Church (State-Line) in Lanett, AL, Rev. Eric Dowdell, Officiating.
She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the St. John Community Baptist Church, Lanett Al. She served faithfully until her health prevented her from attending. Her Church activities included: member and Secretary of the Sr. Choir, Church Financial Secretary, Missionary Society Secretary, Matron Circle Council, YWA and Crusaders Supervisor, finally, a proud worker for the St. John Community Baptist Church Soup Kitchen.
She received her early education in the Chambers County School System. She graduated from Lanier High School, Lanett Al, and received her BS and Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from Alabama State University. She did further study at Atlanta University in Atlanta, Ga, and become certified in Elementary Education. She began her teaching career in 1957 in Bennettsville, SC. In 1961 she moved to Atlanta, Ga, where she was employed by the Gwinnett County School System. In 1964 she moved home and taught Physical Education and American History at Lafayette Middle School for twenty-plus years and eight years at Valley Junior High School. After thirty years of teaching, she retired in 1994. After retiring she remained active in the Georgia School System for several years as well as worked with the Senior Citizen Program in LaGrange Ga.
A legacy of love is entrusted with the following survivor: a loving and devoted daughter Ms. Angelia D. Bloomfield, Senoia Ga. Sister-in-law, Elaine Broom (Anniston Al), close cousin Sara Davidson, Lanett Al; special friends, Doris Barber and Bernice Allen. Special thanks to her Caregivers, Janell Hughley, Texas Haney, Christina Nesmith, and Brightmoor Hospice, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
